A slightly crooked and wacky view of life comes to the stage of The Barnstormers Summer Theatre in Tamworth, New Hampshire, Tuesday, July 20th through Saturday, July 24th. Playwright Alan Ayckbourn is back with the award-winning Absurd Person Singular. We visit three couples in their kitchens on the Christmas Eves of three successive years. Ayckbourn delivers a series of dark comedic jabs and right hooks on the foibles of the classes resulting in one of his finest pieces. Every year, Barnstormer audiences have asked for more Ayckbourn; his comedies work on both sides of the Atlantic.
Absurd Person Singular is directed by Barnstormer veteran Dan Rubinate and features Penny Purcell, John Sarouff, Frank Wells and Vinette Cotter of Center Harbor, Jean Mar Brown and Dale Place. Curtain time is 8:00 PM.
The Barnstormers is the oldest professional summer theatre in the United States. It was founded in Tamworth in 1931 and has made its home there ever since. The theatre is fully air-conditioned and there is plenty of parking in Tamworth Village. Tickets may be ordered now by calling the box office in Tamworth at 603-323-8500.
