BARNSTORMERS PRESENTS YULE MUSICFEST

The Barnstormers of Tamworth present a musical Yuletide extravaganza Sunday, December 21st at 7:00 PM at the theatre on Main Street inTamworth Village. Titled "A Weary World Rejoices", the program will be slightly solstice, slightly secular and slightly spiritual.

Featured performers will be pianist Dana Cunningham and singer/songwriter Carol Noonan. It is a too rare appearance by Dana Cunningham. A Freedom, NH, resident, Dana has received the highest praise for her album of contemplative piano, "Dancing at the Gate". Her style is completely her own and does not fall into the convenient niche of New Age, whether her own compositions or seasonal favorites.

Carol Noonan is well known throughout New England and beyond for hercrystal vibrato and her sturdy and passionate delivery of a song. Not coincidentally, she has recently released an album called "Carol Noonan Christmas" containing beautifully rendered holiday classics and several of her own tunes. Accompanying Carol will be guitarist Kevin Barry, equally at home in an intimate setting as he is in the large venues he plays when touring as part of Mary Chapin Carpenter’s band. While Carol and Dana alone would constitute a very special evening, A Weary World Rejoices has tapped into the motherlode of musical riches.

Also featured will be Seth Austen and Beverly Woods, Celtic legend Rod Mackenzie in a role never before seen or imagined, and an extra special treat, a holiday appearance by Tom Dean and Alana McDonald, 2/3 of the venerable Devonsquare. Firm and gentle persuasion may result in performances by other noted musicians as well. Throughout the evening there will be short readings in keeping with the solstice, secular and spiritual theme. The show is sponsored in part by the law firm of Cooper, Deans & Cargill of North Conway.

Tickets for A Weary World Rejoices are $15 and may be purchased in advance at The Other Store and the Tamworth Village Store in Tamworth or at the Chinook Café in Conway. All seating is general admission.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Barnstormers, the oldest professional summer theatre in the United States and a year round venue for the performing arts. If there are still holes on your holiday shopping list, a season ticket or two to The Barnstormers’ summer season might be just the thing. Season tickets may be ordered by calling 603-323-8661.

The Barnstormers is on Main Street in Tamworth Village. Follow the signs from either Routes 16 or 25.
