On February 2, 2007, the 5th annual New Hampshire State Theatre Awards honored The Barnstormers Theatre for General Excellence in Theatre for the 2006 season. Clayton Phillips, Producing Artistic Director of The Barnstormers Theatre was thrilled with the recent award. “It was truly an honor to be recognized for the work that has been done at The Barnstormers this year. To be acknowledged by our fellow theatres in this way is an extraordinary compliment.”
This was the first year for The Barnstormers Theatre to be adjudicated by The New Hampshire State Theatre Awards since the awards creation five years ago. Working with both professional and community theatre, The New Hampshire State Theatre Awards help bring together the theatre community throughout the state by increasing awareness, promoting collaboration, and excellence.
Phillips also stated, “The New Hampshire State Theatre Awards is an exciting event that is not seen as competition between the theatre companies, yet brings everyone together in support for their individual artistic endeavors. The Barnstormers Theatre would like to congratulate Advice to The Players and Winnipesauke Playhouse for their achievements.”
The Barnstormers Theatre was also honored with top finalists in three categories; Bryan Knowlton for Best Choreography (Gypsy), Holly Ann Butler for Best Supporting Actress (Gypsy) and Vincent Gerrard for Best Actor (Dirty Blonde).
