Something Rotten!

June 26-July 5 (no show July 4)

Book by
Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell
Music and Lyrics by
Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick
Conceived by Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick

Welcome to the Renaissance! Nominated for 10 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, Something Rotten! is a celebration of Broadway and a send-up of the most famous writer the western world has ever known.

An outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten! was created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell. Featuring large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, Something Rotten! was hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years".

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Barefoot in the Park

July 10-July 19

Written by Neil Simon

Newlyweds Paul and Corie couldn’t be more different—he’s a buttoned-up lawyer, and she’s a free spirit with a knack for turning everyday life into an adventure. Their first challenge as a married couple? Surviving life in a tiny, quirky New York apartment with bad plumbing, a surprise visit from Corie’s eccentric mother, and a dinner party featuring their hilariously unpredictable neighbor. When everything that can go wrong does, hilarity ensues!

Written by legendary playwright Neil Simon, Barefoot in the Park inspired the classic film of the same name which helped launch the careers of Hollywood icons Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. This timeless romantic comedy will have you laughing, swooning, and rooting for love in all its messy glory.

This production is dedicated to the memory of Elaine “Andi” Anderson, (1934-1924) a long-time Barnstormer who played Corrie Bratter in The Barnstormers Theatre’s original 1967 production.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Aug 21-Aug 30

Music and Lyrics by William Finn
Book by Rachel Sheinkin
Conceived by Rebecca Feldman

Winner of the Tony® and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this will bee one unforgettable experience.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life-un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

A delightful den of comedic genius, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a fast-paced crowd-pleaser.
